Micro General, an Irvine-based manufacturer of microprocessor-based parcel shipping systems and postal scales, reported first-quarter net income of $66,839, contrasted with a net loss of $18,296 for the comparable 1987 period. Sales totaled $1.4 million, a 41% increase over the $1 million posted a year ago. The company attributed much of the first-quarter gains to a major rate change by United Parcel Service, requiring field modifications to the company’s products.
