CAMPAIGN ’88 : Reagan to End Suspense

Lest any doubt remain about where his political leanings lie, Reagan will use a multimillion-dollar GOP fund-raiser tonight to spotlight his formal endorsement of Bush. The President’s Dinner, a $1,500-a-person bash that could generate more than $5 million for Republican campaign coffers, will be the site of Reagan’s pro forma embrace of his loyal Administration teammate of the last seven years.
The endorsement comes as no surprise, but the timing--aimed at getting maximum exposure--has been a closely guarded political secret.
