A court-appointed official in Miami found that Maria DeSillers misspent up to $200,000 collected for her son’s unsuccessful liver transplants, but DeSillers denied the charges. DeSillers’ 7-year-old son, Ronnie, died at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh last year after a highly publicized fund-raising drive. Karen Geivers, appointed at the request of the Dade state attorney’s office to review DeSillers’ spending, cited a series of questionable expenses, including $10,850 to a jewelry store.
