MCA Television Ltd. has acquired an option to buy 1 million common shares, or 5.3%, of Universal City-based HRI Group Inc., a company formed by the merger of Robert Halmi Inc. and Hal Roach Studios. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing, Hal Roach granted MCA Television, a subsidiary of MCA Inc., a warrant in 1987 to buy 1 million Hal Roach common shares at $12 each. Robert Halmi and Hal Roach have since merged into HRI Group and signed a letter of agreement with MCA Television.
