An 11-year-old boy was in critical condition Monday after he was shot by a teen-age gang member angry at being ordered out of the boy’s Crenshaw-area home, Los Angeles police said.
Police said Donald Ritchie was sitting on the sofa watching television with about a dozen members of his family about 10 p.m. Sunday, when his mother and other relatives forced a 17-year-old out of the home and locked a screen door.
The teen-ager, whose identity was not released, apparently believed a woman with whom he had an argument earlier in the evening was inside, police said. Angered at being kicked out, he shot one round from behind the screen with a .25-caliber automatic pistol, hitting Donald in the head, Detective Richard Hoffman said.
Donald, who is not a gang member, was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was in very critical condition, police said.
