Local News in Brief : 2 Killed; Gang Link Seen

A 12-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman were shot and killed in an apparently gang-related shooting following a long chase through South Los Angeles streets Monday night, Los Angeles police said.
The two bodies were found in a red car at Vernon Avenue and St. Andrews Place about 1 1/2 miles south of the Coliseum. Officers said they did not know what set off the incident, but there were unconfirmed reports that it was gang related.
Witnesses reported hearing at least eight shots from what sounded like a semiautomatic weapon. Identification of the victims was withheld pending notification of relatives.
