College Baseball : Chapman KOs CS Northridge With 9-5 Win

Chapman College handed Cal State Northridge a 9-5 defeat Friday that mathematically eliminated the Matadors (18-32, 9-16) from California Collegiate Athletic Assn. title consideration.
Chapman’s knockout swings came in the third inning when the Panthers sandwiched six runs around a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in the ejection of two players. Chapman (25-23-1, 14-12) scored four runs in the third inning, capped by Tony Gardea’s three-run home run.
CSUN pitcher Robert Wheatcroft (2-7) hit Wendell Harris with a pitch after Gardea’s homer and Harris charged the mound, emptying both benches. Wheatcroft and Harris were ejected.
The Master’s 7, Biola 6--Daren Beck’s run-scoring double with two out in the 10th inning scored Tod Skinner and gave Master’s an NAIA District 3 victory at Biola. Mark MacArthur doubled twice and scored two runs for Master’s (24-24, 13-9).
