El Camino Advances With Softball Win

El Camino College scored two unearned runs and went on to defeat Golden West, 2-1, in a South Coast Conference softball playoff game Friday at Cypress College.
With the victory, El Camino earns a berth in the Southern California Regional playoffs, which start May 13. Rhonda Nelson (24-11) threw a 7-hitter, striking out 2 for El Camino; Kathy Ellis (5-6) took the loss.
The teams had ended the regular season tied for second behind conference champion Fullerton, forcing the one-game playoff.
