OSLO — A Norwegian airliner crashed Friday night on a domestic flight, killing all 36 people aboard, rescue officials told the national NRK broadcasting company.
The television station said the plane crashed about 9 miles southwest of the town of Bronnoysund. All those aboard were believed to be Norwegian, it said.
The four-engine Wideroe Airline plane, carrying 33 passengers and three crew members, was flying from the southern town of Namsos to Bronnoysund.
“The control tower lost contact with the plane about five minutes before its scheduled landing at 8:35 p.m. ,” the broadcast said.
Rescue work was coordinated by police and the rescue center in the city of Bodoe just north of the Arctic Circle.
Bodoe Police Chief Olav Soenderland said there were low clouds and poor visibility in the area near Bronnoysund on Friday night.
