Turner Broadcasting System Inc. said it reduced its net loss for the first quarter of 1988 to $14.1 million, compared to a loss of $39.7 million for the year-ago period. The Atlanta-based owner of television and cable networks and professional sports reported a 71% increase in operating income for the first quarter on revenue of $186.3 million, an increase of 35% over revenue for the same period last year.
