Ex-S&L; Owner Fires Lawyer

John L. Molinaro, the former owner of defunct Ramona Savings & Loan in Orange, fired the attorney who five weeks ago won court approval for Molinaro to withdraw guilty pleas to criminal fraud charges.
Molinaro, who is serving a two-year federal prison term for fraud stemming from his attempt to secure a passport under a fake name, fired San Jose lawyer Ronald W. Rose. The lawyer is the second one the former banker has had since regulators declared Ramona insolvent and seized it in September, 1986.
Molinaro told U.S. District Judge David Kenyon in a brief hearing that prosecutors plan to file new charges against him. Assistant U.S. Atty. Harriet B. Leva confirmed that a new indictment will be filed.
