Basketball Coach Don Corbett of North Carolina A&T; is upset that, of the 93 players invited to the U.S. Olympic men’s basketball tryouts, none is from a predominantly black school.
“I hurt,” the veteran coach said. “I really hurt.”
Olympic Coach John Thompson of Georgetown and his assistant, George Raveling of USC, both are black.
Raveling said: “I can think of two coaches who we talked to at great length about players from predominantly black schools. We went and saw them and concluded that the players we invited were better.”
