Boys’ Athletes of the Week : BASEBALL

Ron Kelly, a senior at Mt. Carmel High School, allowed one run in five innings and drove in four runs with his fifth home run, a triple and a single in Friday’s 10-1 Palomar League victory over Poway. It was Poway’s first league loss of the season. Kelly has been named to the all-league team as an outfielder the past two years.

VOLLEYBALL

Vince Marin, a left-side hitter for University of San Diego High, recorded 28 kills in USDHS’ four-game victory over San Marcos last Tuesday. Marin, a 6-foot senior, came back Friday with 13 kills to help USDHS (9-1) beat Oceanside in four games.

TRACK

Even though favored Glen Reyes was competing on his own track, sophomore Jerome Price of University City captured the long jump in Friday’s Orange Glen Relays with a leap of 23-1. Price had never gone farther than 22-9.
