Mater Dei Appoints O’Neil as Soccer Coach

John O’Neil, a graduate of Corona del Mar High School and a former girls’ varsity soccer coach at Laguna Beach, has been named the boys’ varsity soccer coach at Mater Dei.
O’Neil, 21, replaces Curt Bauer, who resigned after two years. Bauer guided Mater Dei to the 4-A division co-championship in 1986-87 and to a 24-2-1 record last season.
In addition to coaching at Laguna Beach, O’Neil previously coached the junior varsity team at Corona del Mar and various American Youth Soccer Organization teams.
