The reading of just one day’s newspaper (Part I, April 23) reveals a lot about how the rest of the world sees us. We find Soviet leader Mikhail S. Gorbachev upset at President Reagan’s “confrontational” cold war speeches, Canada’s Prime Minister Brian Mulroney angry at Reagan for not keeping his commitment to reduce acid rain, United Nations officials mad at us for withholding aid to their population control programs, and the Danish people subjected to White House spokesman Marlin Fitzwater referring to them as a breakfast food.
We might conclude from these not untypical incidents that the Reagan Administration is (choose one): a) ignorant, b) insensitive, c) belligerent, d) narrow-minded, e) most of the above, or f) all of the above.
