Goodyear Tire & Rubber is waiting for the United Rubber Workers union to set the next course of action, now that a proposed three-year contract for 15,000 union employees at Goodyear plants in the United States has been defeated, said Goodyear spokesman John Perduyn. “Lacking a ratification, we agree with the union on working on a day-to-day basis,” Perduyn said. URW spokesman Curt Brown said six of the URW’s 11 Goodyear locals approved the proposed deal, but a majority of the membership of all 11 locals was opposed to it.
