College Roundup : Deushane Pitches One-Hitter for SCC

Mark Deushane of Southern California College gave up only one hit, a single in the first inning against Master’s College, and SCC went on to win, 3-0, Monday at SCC.
Deushane (8-5) struck out nine. Steve Milledge broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the sixth. SCC is 23-24.
In Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. golf:
UC Irvine is tied for fifth place after the opening day of the PCAA golf championships at Fort Ord, Calif. Irvine, tied with Pacific with 621, was led by Price Shoemaker, who shot a five-over par 77 and a three-over par 75, for a combined 152, in the first two rounds on the 18-hole course. No player broke par in either round.
San Jose State is in first place with 612, followed by defending champion Fresno State (614), Nevada Las Vegas (618) and UC Santa Barbara (620). Cal State Fullerton is in ninth place with 631. Fullerton’s Gary Gallogly is in fifth place in individual competition with 151.
The winner of the tournament, which concludes today, will advance to the NCAA championships.
