NEW YORK — The final episode of the CBS detective show “Magnum P.I.” smashed the competition in the national ratings for its special two-hour time slot on Sunday, network officials said today.
Super sleuth Thomas Magnum, played by Tom Selleck, captured a 32% national rating and 48% share of television viewers during the 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. EDT period. Magnum ended its eight-year, 162-episode run with a two-hour special called “Resolutions,” in which the crime-fighting Hawaiian detective rejoins the Navy and discovers his half-Vietnamese daughter is alive.
