Community College Swimming : Constable Helps OCC Take Lead

Tina Constable won the 50-yard freestyle in record-breaking time Thursday in leading Orange Coast College through the first day of the Orange Empire Conference swimming and diving championships at Saddleback College.
Constable’s time of 24.73 seconds broke her conference record of 24.90, set last year. The Pirates lead the two-day meet with 220 points, followed by Palomar (161) and San Diego Mesa (109).
OCC’s Patti Read also set a conference record, winning the 500 freestyle in 5:16.77.
In the men’s division, Saddleback’s Joel Bussard won the 200 individual medley in 1:55.28, a conference record. OCC, which leads the meet with 165 points, was led by Nate Kinney, who won the 50 freestyle in 21.13, a conference record, and Matt Harris who was second in the 500 freestyle (4:44.65).
