Convoy Arrives in Kuwait

BAHRAIN — Three U.S.-flagged Kuwaiti tankers escorted by American warships arrived safely today in this northern Persian Gulf state, a U.S. Navy spokesman said.
The convoy was the first to enter the gulf since a battle between American and Iranian forces in the waterway on April 18. Washington has been protecting reflagged Kuwaiti tankers there since last July. The spokesman reported no problems on the 550-mile voyage through the gulf.
