Bellflower : State Housing Aid Sought
The City Council has authorized Bellflower to apply for the California Homeowners Assistance Program, a state funding program that makes available factory-built, single-family housing for low- and moderate-income residents.
The city will submit by Friday a proposal to the state Department of Housing and Community Development for the $200,000 grant to begin building five homes on city-owned property near California Street and the Artesia (91) Freeway.
According to terms of the grant, the state will enter into a partnership with the purchasing homeowners. At resale of a home, the state will be refunded its original $40,000 investment, any interest and a percentage of the appreciation of the property.
