Nixon on Pardoning North, Poindexter

I was wrong. After listening to the Iran-Contra hearings in their entirety, I was convinced that Poindexter was lying when he said he didn’t inform the President about the diversion of funds. Now I learn that Nixon believes that Poindexter and North should be pardoned.
I had believed that to pardon Poindexter would end any chance that the truth would be learned, but how can I disagree with the moral leader of the Western world?
