Oklahoma State University President Lawrence Boger said that the school hopes to respond to the NCAA’s investigation into the football program by the end of the summer.
The NCAA notified Boger that it had issued an official letter of inquiry concerning alleged rules violations involving the Cowboy football program.
NCAA investigators have talked with Willie Anderson, former Oklahoma State recruiting coordinator who recruited and signed blue chip players Thurman Thomas and Hart Lee Dykes in 1984 and 1985.
The University of Illinois was put on a year’s probation by the NCAA in February for violations that included a former Illinois assistant coach giving Dykes $100 to stay at a hotel in order to avoid other recruiters.
