Four factories have gone bankrupt in the Soviet region of Nagorno-Karabakh because of a strike by workers demanding the region’s transfer from Azerbaijan to Armenia, the Tass news agency said. It said production losses due to the strike amounted to more than $6.5 million. An electrical equipment firm, a furniture factory, an agricultural machinery plant and an industrial production works reported no money in their accounts on April 1. The strike erupted after the Kremlin ruled out a redrawing of borders despite mass demonstrations in Armenia in late February.
