Irvine Puts Win Streak on Line Tonight

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — UC Irvine won three games last week, but it wasn’t the most impressive of streaks.
The Anteaters (14-10 overall and 9-6 in Pacific Coast Athletic Assn.) won rather easily at San Jose State, 63-55, on Monday night and then struggled to home victories over Fresno State, 82-78, in double overtime, and last-place University of the Pacific, 85-81.
Tonight, the Anteaters will probably have to play better to extend the streak to four when they meet New Mexico State (14-13, 6-8) at the Pan American Center. The Aggies have lost 6 of their last 8 games, but are 11-4 at home. Irvine has won here just once in four previous games.
