Local News in Brief : Fire at Playground Building

A fire in a city-owned building at the Highland Park Playground caused $250,000 damage, firefighters said.
No one was injured battling the Thursday blaze at 6150 Piedmont Ave., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells said.
About 50 firefighters from 12 engine companies were dispatched to the burning 7,500-square-foot parks and recreation facility, Wells said. The flames were extinguished about an hour later, he said.
