Chris Brown of the Padres lost his salary arbitration case Wednesday when arbitrator Frederick Reel chose the Padres’ offer of $265,000 over Brown’s proposal of $410,000.
Brown, a third baseman whom the Padres obtained from San Francisco in a multiplayer deal last July, batted .237 in 1987 with 12 homers and 40 RBIs. He made $215,000 last season.
