California Highway Patrol officers have recovered $1 million in equipment stolen from California farms and transported to Mexico, a spokesman said Thursday.
The equipment, reported missing in 1987 from Fresno, King and Tulare counties, is the first of its kind ever recovered from Mexico, according to Gary Alfonzo of the CHP border division.
Mexican authorities cooperated in the lengthy investigation that led to the return of 11 tractors, three Caterpillar water pumps worth $30,000 each and other equipment, Alfonzo said. The equipment was found in several locations in Mexico, he said.
