Arab League Demands U.N. Act on Unrest

TUNIS, Tunisia — Arab League ministers Sunday unanimously demanded an end to Israel’s occupation of Arab territories and urged the U.N. Security Council to act.
“The meeting pledges to continue to support materially and politically the uprising of the Arab and Palestinian people in order to allow it to continue its struggle,” said the final resolution issued at the end of the two-day session.
Palestinian officials were clearly pleased by the outcome, saying delegates at the emergency meeting had showed unusual unanimity in thrashing out the final five-page document.
“The atmosphere of the gathering was in the spirit of the uprising,” said Arab League spokesman Mohammed Farrah.
