A Philadelphia pub owner, sued for $10,000 in statutory damages for playing Bruce Springsteen music without a permit, is incensed that Goliath would pick on David but says he doesn’t think the workingman’s minstrel was aware of the legal action. Frank Cascerceri, owner of Woody’s Pub, received the suit late last week from Springsteen’s lawyers demanding that he purchase the legally required $1,200 license that would allow his weekend disc jockey to play copyrighted songs. Said Cascerceri: “I charge 55 cents for a mug of beer, $1.75 for a mixed drink. How can I afford to buy a license with prices like that?”
