Venice : Homeless to Mount Cleanup
Homeless volunteers are expected to sweep, shovel, rake and bag trash along Rose Avenue on Friday as part of a continuing project to clean up the area.
Ten to 20 people, including children, are expected to take part in the cleanup on Rose between Seventh Avenue and Ocean Front Walk, organizers said.
The project is known as the GRACE Patrol (Greater Rose Avenue Cleanup Effort), and volunteers should contact Venice’s St. Joseph Center.
Organizers said the project is, in part, designed to allow the homeless to “demonstrate their concern for the neighborhood” and improve links between the homeless and Rose Avenue residents, many of whom have protested the growing presence of transients in Venice.
