More than 600 tearful friends and neighbors braved bitter cold as seven members of a prominent Algona, Iowa, family shot to death during a holiday dinner were buried, then eulogized at memorial services. John Dreesman, 79, his wife, Agnes, 74, their daughter Marilyn Chuang, 48, and her three children were shot to death Dec. 29 by the Dreesmans’ 40-year-old son, Robert, who then shot himself to death, investigators say. Algona Mayor Kent Hoover proclaimed an official day of mourning in the town of 6,600, and several area businesses closed.
