Gulls Try to End USD Home Streak

SAN DIEGO — The University of San Diego is home, and that’s usually bad news for its opponents.
The Toreros (5-4) will play U.S. International at 7:30 tonight in the third of four games of a home stand. USD has won four straight at home and is 18-1 there over the last two seasons.
Hank Egan, in his fourth season as USD’s coach, is 42-6 at home.
USIU (6-9) has been defeated in the last two years in the USD Sports Center, last season by a 113-72 margin.
The Gulls had a two-game winning streak snapped Thursday night by Missouri Kansas City, 70-68. Forward Russ Heicke leads USIU with a 20.3 scoring average.
USD also played Missouri Kansas City in its last game and won, 69-60, Wednesday night.
Senior forward Marty Munn comes off the bench and leads the Toreros in scoring with a 16.4 average. Danny Means is the only other USD player in double figures, averaging 12.7.
Starting forward Mike Haupt suffered a slight leg injury in Wednesday’s win. Egan said Haupt will start but he’s not sure how much Haupt will be able to play.
