SAN DIEGO — Former San Diego Symphony Concertmaster Andres Cardenes will return early next year to perform the complete cycle of Beethoven violin sonatas.
Cardenes, who took an academic post at the University of Michigan during last year’s symphony lockout, will be accompanied by San Diego State University pianist Karen Follingstad.
The 10 Beethoven sonatas will be played over three concerts (Jan. 30, Feb. 2 and Feb. 10) at the Church of St. James-by-the-Sea in La Jolla.
The series is sponsored by San Diego Mini-Concerts, the organization that presents free noontime chamber music in San Diego’s Lyceum Theatre.
