El Toro’s Youngs Commits to Play Volleyball and Basketball for UCLA

Elaine Youngs, an outstanding volleyball and basketball player at El Toro High School, has orally committed to play both sports at UCLA, according to Carolyn Youngs, her mother.
Youngs, a 6-foot senior, has been named all-Southern Section in each sport. Technically, she will attend UCLA on a volleyball scholarship.
Her freshman year, she will play volleyball and redshirt in basketball.
“That was to give her a little breathing room,” Carolyn Youngs said. “That’s a pretty demanding schedule to take on right away.”
Youngs will formally sign a letter of intent in February. She had also been recruited, for both sports, by USC, Cal State Long Beach and the University of Oregon.
