A Chilean arms manufacturer denied a report that it is selling cluster bombs to the leftist government of Nicaragua. Calling the Washington Post report “a joke,” Juan Concha, vice president of Ferrimar, Chile’s second-largest weapons producer, said his firm no longer makes the anti-personnel bombs. At any rate, he said, all arms sales abroad must be approved by Chile’s right-wing military government. Other sources confirmed that Ferrimar no longer makes the bombs.
