Local News in Brief : Dodger Swoon Eases Jam

In a study of traffic around Dodger Stadium during the summer, a consultant hired by the City of Los Angeles has reported that congestion caused by Dodger games was not as great as expected--probably due to lower attendance in the losing season.
Engineers for DKS Associates monitored several games expecting attendance to exceed 40,000. When only about 35,000 fans showed up, traffic moved fairly smoothly before and after the games, they reported.
Even so, according to the report, game traffic temporarily cut off circulation to communities such as Solano Canyon and caused tie-ups at some intersections and freeway on-ramps for as long as 45 minutes.
Traffic engineers will use the report next month in deliberations on how to lessen congestion in the residential areas near the stadium.
