A march sponsored by the Urban League in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Herb Cawthorne, president of the San Diego chapter of the Urban League, announced Wednesday.
It will begin at City Hall, 202 C St., and proceed to Martin Luther King Way and Kettner Boulevard.
The three-quarter-mile march “intends to make a positive statement about the significance of Dr. King,” Cawthorne said.
On Tuesday, San Diego voters will decide on Proposition F, which seeks to change the name of Martin Luther King Way back to Market Street.
Cawthorne said, “People who were moved and uplifted by Dr. King’s spirit have an opportunity to participate in an expression of that commitment.”
A rally will follow the march. At midnight, a potluck supper and overnight vigil will be held at a Seaport Village parking lot.
