The Chicago Bears, against the regular players’ wishes, said they will keep 16 players from their non-union team as a taxi squad.
Coach Mike Ditka said he had let the regular players vote but was unhappy with the result and rejected it.
“I let the players vote and it was 44-1 against,” he said. “I thought they’d be realistic. The only thing we want to do is win football games and go the Super Bowl.
“It’s not a popularity contest. I’m the boss, I make the decisions. We’ll run the team as I see fit.”
