Local News in Brief : Reward Set in Slaying of Gas Station Owner

The family and friends of a gas station owner who was shot to death in August are offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the capture of the suspect.
Curtis Ray Morgan has been sought by police since the Aug. 20 slaying of Raymond Dilger, 43, in his Lake View Terrace home. Police said Morgan, 33, was the common-law husband of Dilger’s daughter, Cheryl, 25. Morgan blamed the father for the breakup of that relationship, police said.
Dilger, owner of Ray’s Chevron Gas Station in Sun Valley and a former champion stock-car driver, was shot twice in the head about 4 a.m. in the Jiminez Place home he shared with his wife and two other daughters, police said.
Dilger’s wife, June, said family and friends have put up the reward for information leading police to Morgan.
Police said Morgan is wanted on a warrant charging him with murder and burglary. Detective Al Ferrand said that Morgan may be living in the San Fernando Valley because police have received several reports of his being seen.
