Northwest Airlines said Tuesday that five people were slightly injured on a Tokyo-to-Los Angeles flight when it encountered unexpected turbulence 80 minutes after it left Tokyo.
The plane, Flight No. 2 with 338 people on board, proceeded to Los Angeles, where one passenger with a wrenched foot, a flight attendant with a strained back and three attendants who had been scalded by coffee were treated by paramedics, an airline spokesman said.
