Dow Chemical’s income jumped 98% to $330 million for the third quarter, compared to the year-ago period. Sales for the Midland, Mich.-based firm totaled $3.357 billion, up 22.4% from a year ago. The firm attributed the gains to increased production and higher selling prices for plastics and basic chemicals, including household products, plastic bags and food wraps and its serum cholesterol reducer Lorelco, Seldane non-sedating antihistamine and Nicorette smoking cessation gum.
