Livaditis Gets Death Sentence
Drifter Steven Livaditis, who said he felt cheated by life, today was sentenced to the gas chamber for the murder of three people in a daylong siege last year at Van Cleef & Arpels, a posh Beverly Hills jewelry store.
Livaditis, 23, showed no emotion as he was sentenced to die. He had pleaded guilty to killing a security guard and a saleswoman when he tried to rob the Rodeo Drive store on June 23, 1986. He admitted culpability in the death of the store manager who was killed by a policesharpshooter as Livaditis tried to escape from the store using three other hostages as a shield.
