A small earthquake jolted southern Los Angeles County, prompting calls to police but no reports of damage or injury. The temblor measured 3.4 on the Richter scale and was centered about two miles southeast of Compton, 15 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles, said Jacquelyn Dreher, a spokeswoman for Caltech in Pasadena.
