Three masked men armed with a gun and a knife entered the home of a Thousand Oaks couple early Tuesday and stole property worth more than $24,000, authorities said.
The couple were upstairs sleeping about 3 a.m. when the wife, 57, heard a noise and told her husband, 56, that she thought she heard intruders, Ventura County Sheriff’s Lt. Cole McDaniel said.
The husband went downstairs and was confronted by the three intruders, one of whom put a handgun to the man’s head, McDaniel said. While a second robber held a knife to the wife’s throat, the pair told the robbers where to find their valuables, he said.
The three robbers, who were wearing knit ski masks, tied up the couple and looted the house on Tipperary Lane, McDaniel said. Among the items taken were jewelry, silverware, weapons and a videocassette recorder, he said.
Neither victim was hurt, McDaniel said.
