Jerome M. Nemiro, who started in retailing more than half a century ago and spent the last 13 years as president of Bullocks Wilshire, is retiring from his post at the specialty fashion store on Aug. 1.
Nemiro, 68, joined the Federated Department Stores unit from May D & F, a May Department Stores division in Denver, where he had spent 25 years in a variety of positions, including president and chairman. Previously, he worked for retailers in his hometown of Portland, Ore.
During his tenure at Bullocks Wilshire, the Los Angeles-based chain grew to seven from three stores and in 1983 started a national mail-order business.
A successor is expected to be named today, according to a Federated spokesman.
