Thomas Hearns will fight for an unprecedented fourth world boxing title when he meets Juan Roldan in a World Boxing Council middleweight title bout tentatively scheduled for Sept. 11, promoter Bob Arum said.
“I’m optimistic the whole card will be together by next week,” Arum said.
No boxer has ever won four titles, although two have tried. Alexis Arguello failed twice in junior-welterweight bouts against Aaron Pryor, and Roberto Duran lost in his bid for a fourth title when Hagler won a unanimous decision in their middleweight bout.
