A series of all-comers track meets begins tonight at Birmingham High and Pierce College.
Sponsored for the 28th year by the student auxiliary services branch of the Los Angeles Unified School District, the meets will be held four days a week, including Wednesdays at the two Valley-area sites.
Birmingham, which will be the site of the championship meet of the six-week series on Aug. 1, will feature most track and field events. Cross-country competition will be held at Pierce.
Other sites for the all-comers meets are Southwest College on Tuesdays, Bell High on Thursdays and Santa Monica College on Fridays.
The meets are free of charge and participants need only sign up the night of competition to be eligible. Youth, open and master’s divisions are offered.
