Mycogen Gets OK to Test Potato Pest Insecticide

Mycogen Corp. on Thursday received approval from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to begin large-scale field testing of M-One, a biological insecticide that eliminates the Colorado potato beetle, a pest that destroys potato crops.
San Diego-based Mycogen is a biotechnology company that uses microorganisms and biotoxins to develop biological pesticides. The M-One insecticide will be tested next year in 15 fields around the country.
