UC Irvine Overtakes Pacific in Seventh

UC Irvine broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the seventh inning to defeat the University of the Pacific, 8-4, in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. baseball game at Stockton.
In the seventh, Frank Spates (2 for 3 with three RBIs) doubled in John Seeburger, Chris Gallego singled to score Doug Kline, and Spates scored on an infield error.
Kline was 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Seeburger was 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Irvine.
Junior Craig Brink (8-4) struck out a career-high 11 and gave up nine hits for the Anteaters (8-8, 22-26-1).
Chris Scott (2-6) took the loss for the Tigers. Pacific is 6-10, 18-30.
